5 years under one roof

IMG_5352

Five years ago today my parents and Richard helped me move myself and all of my stuff to Northbridge.

It was a Sunday and when it wasn’t raining it was humid. My dad borrowed a friends van which was very kind but it would have been nice if it had both its side mirrors. For you see coming across the Sydney Harbour Bridge when you need to merge left, if you don’t have a mirror someone has to stick their head out the window in the rain.

Surprisingly although it seems like a bad start these five years living with Richard are some of the best of my life. It sounds cliche but the laughter and the tears make us the best of friends. This home has seen way, way, way too many hours online gaming and watching Doctor Who. We have chatted so late into the night that it became morning. And the drinking, oh the drinking I know one day my liver will pay me back but I wouldn’t have any other way.

Buying our own place is inevitable and likely to happen soon so I am really glad we got to celebrate this milestone here. This is the place where we said I love you for the first time. Where we brought home our cat Rory. Where we had our first fight. Where we got engaged.

Thank you house for all that you have given us. You are home and you have kept us safe.

The photo is the view from our bedroom. It was taken in winter so you can’t see the big tree but it is one of my best memories.

Here’s to 3 months of marriage (Keith Urban style)

Hard to believe that today we’ve been married for 3 months. Even more so when you think that on December 2nd it will be a year since Richard proposed.

To celebrate I had to share some classic Keith Urban with you. This song was released in May 2009 and since the first time I heard it I fell in love with its joyful, positive approach to marriage.  Since then I have hoped marriage would be like this – the racing to get home to see each other, preferring each others company to anyone else’s and just being happy. It has been and more.

Have a great Sunday!

Isn’t this tee-pee just amazing? I would have loved having one of these when I was a kid. I would have sat in there for hours reading my books. All it needs are fairy lights and a quilted bean bag and I would have been in kid heaven.

It’s huge but if you want one for yourself (please Richard?) head to Playhaven, the store owner Stephanie will hook you up.

Only two sleeps (if you can sleep) until Halloween. Its not really a holiday we celebrate here in Oz though each year there seems to be more and more kids on the streets trick or treating. Lucky for us its daylight savings so the kids get all their treating done before the sun sets – very safe way to do it in my mind.

I pulled together this little treasury as I just can’t resist some of the pretties out there to make your home as spooky as possible. Hope you enjoy. Check it out here.

Our Wedding Day is here!

So this is happening today! Let the celebration of our love begin.

Richard,

If in the morning when you wake,
If the sun does not appear,
I will be here.
If in the dark we lose sight of love,
Hold my hand and have no fear,
I will be here.

I will be here,
When you feel like being quiet,
When you need to speak your mind
I will listen.
Through the winning, losing,
and trying we’ll be together,
And I will be here.
If in the morning when you wake,
If the future is unclear,
I will be here.
As sure as seasons were made for change,
Our lifetimes were made for years,
I will be here.

I will be here,
And you can cry on my shoulder,
When the mirror tells us we’re older.
I will hold you,
to watch you grow in beauty,
And tell you all the things you are to me.
We’ll be together and I will be here.
I will be true to the promises I’ve made,
To you and to the one who gave you to me.
I will be here.

What a gorgeous poem by Steven Curtis Chapman, just perfect for how I feel right now.

Bruno Mars I love this song but it will not feature today …. as it is feels like it is featuring in every wedding this year. Oh and marrying Richard is the smartest thing I have ever or will ever do with my life. But I love your song, its so joyful.

Gorgeous, just gorgeous! Gosh these look pretty in a tree but I could totally see them hanging in a little girls bedroom. I am a firm believer that bunting in all its forms makes things a little bit special. Be prepared Richard there will be bunting in our children’s rooms.
