Our Wedding Day is here!

So this is happening today! Let the celebration of our love begin.

Richard,

If in the morning when you wake,
If the sun does not appear,
I will be here.
If in the dark we lose sight of love,
Hold my hand and have no fear,
I will be here.

I will be here,
When you feel like being quiet,
When you need to speak your mind
I will listen.
Through the winning, losing,
and trying we’ll be together,
And I will be here.
If in the morning when you wake,
If the future is unclear,
I will be here.
As sure as seasons were made for change,
Our lifetimes were made for years,
I will be here.

I will be here,
And you can cry on my shoulder,
When the mirror tells us we’re older.
I will hold you,
to watch you grow in beauty,
And tell you all the things you are to me.
We’ll be together and I will be here.
I will be true to the promises I’ve made,
To you and to the one who gave you to me.
I will be here.

What a gorgeous poem by Steven Curtis Chapman, just perfect for how I feel right now.

Bruno Mars I love this song but it will not feature today …. as it is feels like it is featuring in every wedding this year. Oh and marrying Richard is the smartest thing I have ever or will ever do with my life. But I love your song, its so joyful.

Monday Etsy Pretties

These shoes are incredible! In my wedding research I have noticed that a lot of brides have their something blue as a garter but these would be so much cooler.

Navy Blue Heel With Venise Lace Applique.

On an aside, we aren’t doing the bouquet or garter toss at our wedding. With every wedding tradition we are asking ourselves why. Some pass the filter (e.g. wedding rings) but others like tossing things haven’t. Honestly, I don’t see the link between catching some of my underwear and being the next to get married. Unless it’s that the guys girl has such a tantrum about holding my underwear that he proposes to calm her down. I was reading up on the tradition here which made another good point, it’s a pain to stop the fun for this. So we aren’t and I am really happy with the decision. We are looking for an awesome band and I for one am not interested in stopping to throw away my flowers and underwear.

Look ahead: May 2012

Thinking about: what to get Richard for his birthday on May 2. Right now I am in the awkward place where I have a few ideas but none stand out as the clear winner. Here’s hoping something comes to me that I can get in time for Wednesday. Oh, I also need to get cards for Mothers Day and my mother-in-law (Richard and his Mum share the same birthday).

A good cause: The Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal. The Salvos annual major fundraising drive this helps fund the vast network of social and community services delievered each year. One of the biggest things I have learnt about the Salvos working in the NFP sector is that the masses expect the Salvos to be there for Australians in times of need. Aussies trust the Salvos and with good reason, they do incredible work with those who need help the most. But I think we can forget sometimes that all of that takes money, although many are volunteers there are still many who work every day to help the less fortunate. Please give as generously as you can online or when someone knocks on your door this year for the Red Shield Appeal.

Anticipating: Diablo 3 (Australian release date is May 17). Got the chance to play a beta test version recently and loved it. It doesn’t hurt that my demon hunter appeared to be wearing Louboutins.

Listening to: Elizabeth Mitchell! I was watching a video over on A Cup of Jo and just loved the song. So as you do I headed over to iTunes and grabbed everything I could get my hands on. It is some of the best kids music I have ever heard (no Wiggles to give us nightmares when we have children) a mix of great folk music with simple, repetitive lyrics. Elizabeth’s music has such a positive, joyous nature to it just love it!

Watching: House MD. Sadly, I’ve been watching it so much I’ve been having dreams about being hospitalized and every headache can only be cured by brain surgery. Still, it’s fascinating though I hope never to get House as my doctor.

Obsessing over: hair pieces for my bridesmaids. I can see in my minds eye exactly what I want but I am having no luck finding it. I know I have time to find something but I am a little nervous that I won’t find it and in my obsessing over it will leave it too long to find anything I am actually happy with. Long Etsy searches have come up with some ideas but they aren’t exactly right. I am hoping that soon I will find something close enough to make me happy.

Working on: writing our wedding ceremony. Although the wedding is 4 months away, wisely Beh-roze our celebrant asked us to get it finished early. To be honest it’s a bit daunting  but exciting at the same time. This is by far the biggest thing we have ever done together and although the words themselves may fade in our memories what will stay is the way that the words make us feel. Its the laughter and tears that will be what we tell our grandchildren about. We are writing our vows separately. I won’t know what Richard says until the day, I keep coming up with random bits to include but I need to sit down somewhere without him to write mine.

Wishing: for more time in every day. Big changes are happening at work and while there are some exciting new projects coming up time is flying by. I would use the extra time to plan the wedding, in particular right now the honeymoon. I am pretty happy with how organised the wedding is but I am starting to realise how much I hadn’t thought of. I am also acutely aware that this will only happen once in my life, so would like more time to savor this incredible moment.

The concept for this feature grew from a post on one of my favourite blogs Sometimes Sweet. Photo of peonies comes from A Cup of Jo, I love peonies but sadly they are out of season for the wedding.

Happy long weekend Friday

Monday is a public holiday for most of Australia. Not a lot planned but who can help but be happy today.

The Princess Bride and Monopoly combined makes one heck of a childhood memory.

I want this printer!  See what you print as you print, very cool!

Cool zombie map!

Zombies and engagement photo shoots, very cool

Is the Duchess of Cambridge going to appear on the cover of Vogue? Why not, Crown Princess Mary of Denmark did (twice in Australia and Germany) and looked amazing!!!

Spring ’11 has sprung

Wasn’t feeling 100% so I was fortunate to be able to work from home today. And what an amazing day to be at home.

There was a gorgeous breeze all day which brought with it the smell of jasmine. The sun was so warm that I sat out on the back steps letting Rory sniff around and getting fresh air. It’s day like this that I feel lucky to be alive. Pity Richard hard to work onsite today for a client.

In a slight aside, I found this image of lavender in the latest alert from Frankie Magazine. I love, love, love Frankie. Issue 43 is out now but you can have a sneak peek online.

A green thumb I am not

My Nanna (Dad’s mother) and my Grandma (Mum’s mum) can garden. I love gardens and flowers but sadly I did not inherit this talent and struggle to keep plants alive. Late last month my darling Richard bought me a gorgeous Begonia Elatior.

I love the plant and that thought that went into it. Unfortunately, that love has been killing the plant. I started by over watering a little. Ok, a lot, so much so that one of the two fronds (I have no idea if that is right) rotted at the roots so I had to get rid of it. Even setting it as a KPI for one of my team who is doing a great job of keeping her plants didn’t help – in an aside she also rightly felt it unfair to set a KPI after the plant started dieing.

Since that minor “surgery” the plant was doing fine until today when I got to work and it looked like this.

I am proud that I have kept the plant alive for a month and sad that it is fading. I do however, recommend begonia’s to you. They are so pretty and while it lived it brightened the view from my desk.
