Hard to believe Christmas Day is here! I hope you are celebrating the day in a way that makes you happy. For me that is being with my man and family. Breakfast at home and then driving to the family. The whole gang will be at my parents house and I know we are all looking forward to it.
Beware, this video has changed the lyrics slightly. I miss the line about figgy pudding but its still a really good version!
I think everyone who was a child in the 80s remembers this Christmas … I want to say classic but really, its just a bad song that gets stuck in your head each year and refuses to let go. Since I sing it every year it had to make the list.
This song came up recently when we were watching The Graham Norton Show as the band on that night had done a horrendous cover of the song. We went hunting for the song and this year its one of my favourites.
There is no way I would do a series like this without including this Judy Garland classic.
Although not as joyous as most of the carols I love this song remains a classic. It’s all about the lyrics with this one but its also a lovely song to sing (Richard just started as I was typing this). The idea that next year, no matter what happened this year, it will be better and that you will be with loved ones in the meantime.
Katherine Jenkins is back in a performance at Carols in the Domain in 2009. This is another hard Christmas carol to sing so I will leave it to the professionals.
Carols in the Domain is Sydney’s version of Carols by Candlelight raising funds for The Salvation Army and the Oasis Youth Support Network. The Salvos do incredible work helping provide food, warmth, shelter, counselling and comfort to Australian’s in need. Please, please consider donating to the Salvos this Christmas!
The 2011 event is being held tonight and will be broadcast on the Seven network live from 8.30pm AEST.
