Wow! How charming does this look in the chair. I love bright colourful accents to neutral furniture in a home!

This movie is pretty (very pretty). I loved the amount of detail they put into the whole film. Little things like the the wag of Snowy’s tail, the waves in the ocean and “extras” in the background. I struggle with 3D sometimes
Story is another thing. Yes, it had a lovely overarching story about finding the treasure and beating the bad guy but its the little things that are missing. I was surprised by that, the team behind the film is incredible Peter Jackson, Steven Spielberg, John Williams, Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens, Steven Moffat, Edgar Wright and cast including Daniel Craig, Andy Serkis, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Jamie Bell.
Thinking about it I am really not sure whether having an amazing team of writers and actors would matter, it does feel like that side was secondary to how it all looked. Don’t get me wrong the team worked incredibly hard to make this film and they should be very proud of it. Still, if you are going to put in that much effort on how something looks you should do the same for story and not sacrifice story for the opportunity to through in another cool action sequence.
Another weekend is here and I hope you have something planned that makes you smile. Here’s something to dance to while you get ready.
However you celebrate Australia have a great day!
The things you find on Pinterest. Every now and then this really is the best way for adults to resolve conflict.
This book appealed to me out a lifelong fascination with graveyards. I love wandering through and reading the headstones. You can catch a glimpse of the history of a place by those buried in its soil. My grandparent home, that has been in the family since I was tiny, is just across the road from the local cemetery. In the Muswellbrook cemetery there is a grave of a woman named Alice Ellen that I discovered one day exploring with my sister Ellen. We wouldn’t have been much older than Bod and it scared the bee willies out of us both.
I too wish that this book had been written when I was young. The tale of Bod, the boy who lived in a graveyard, would have kept me awake at night worrying about the man under the hill.
If I had one criticism it is that I would loved to hear more of the tales of all those buried in the cemetery. There were people who had lived during different periods of history. The little hints throughout the book about what they were teaching Bod and how different that was from reality is fascinating to me. Like the man buried with both his wives jealous for eternity or the Roman who was one of the first buried there.
Richard recommended Gaiman to be years ago as he had read his comics. But I first properly discovered Neil Gaiman through Stardust (the movie) and then my heart skipped a beat to watch his episode for Doctor Who in 2011. Gaiman writes with charm and an effortless childish appreciation for those things that adult eyes miss. A joy to read and I look forward to sharing it with my own children one day.
First book off the Unread Library done!
We are headed to Melbourne this June for OzComicCon and I’m so excited! To make things even better we also got tickets to dinner with Sir Patrick Stewart and his son Daniel.
My nieces are very into pink! I cannot stress enough how girly those two are – and how adorable it is! I think they would love something like this, they may get something very similar to wear at the wedding. NEW-Perfectly Pink Bracelet
It’s Friday, I really think you should just dance!!!
My parents are in town this weekend to look at wedding venues with Richard and I and his parents. Can’t wait to see them. We’ve got it down to three venues. The Establishment (that we saw last weekend) Kirribilli Club and Wolfies Grill. I’m really excited to see them.
We are making headway on choosing a venue. First site inspection last weekend and my folks are in town this coming weekend for us all to go and look at the last few places. Should have a decision very soon!
So the next big thing (besides my dress, photographer and celebrant) is to start planning the honeymoon.
At this stage I am looking to take a month off work, one week before the wedding and three after it. When we were trying to decide where to go for our 2011 holiday we ummed and ahhed about the destination for AGES only to decide on New Zealand. That sounded bad! We loved NZ and had a wonderful holiday, in fact we talked about returning to spend some time on the south island taking in the wildlife. Anyway, I thought I would pull together some of the places that I would like to go on honeymoon and why.
I feel it only fair to have some sort of rating scale, something to judge them all equally. I will be judging each destination on three criteria:
Each criteria will be rated out of 5, the higher the overall mark the more likely it is I will recommend it to Richard.
One thing we are very aware of is that the London 2012 Olympics is at the same time (27 July – 9 September). We can either incorporate the Olympics or not, but that is a story for another post!
